René started by composing the third act of We’ll never let you down. After his sudden passing the second and third act of the chamber opera were written by Mathilde Wagenaar and Max Knigge
We’ll never let you down was performed until December 12, 2021, in Rotterdam, Middelburg, Beek, Hoorn, The Hague, Oegstgeest, Tilburg, Zutphen, Hengelo, Maastricht, Assen, and Utrecht.

Concert held as part of a symposium about Maarten Maartens (the pseudonym of Jozua van der Poorten Schwartz, Amsterdam, August 15, 1858 – Doorn, August 3, 1915) on the occasion of his 100th anniversary. The sonnets were commissioned by the Maarten Maartens Foundation.
